A look inside Newport’s new bamboo clothing store

A NEW store selling clothing and accessories made of bamboo has opened in Newport.

Mabboo, located in Friars Walk, open its doors in the city last Saturday following the success of its Bristol store.

Its aim is to encourage shoppers to buy more sustainable items and was inspired by the owner’s time in China.

“I founded Mabboo back in 2008. I couldn’t believe how many uses the Chinese had for bamboo,” owner Ed Cheney told the Argus.

“We’re a small team from Bristol and thought coming to Newport would be a good opportunity to grow the business.

“I started Mabboo from a market stall selling clothes and we’ve come a long way since then.
