A house in Cardiff is set to be demolished to make way for a pathway residents say nobody wants.
Plans to knock down the two-storey house in Pontprennau have attracted huge opposition from neighbours who claim the plans will make them less safe.
Hundreds of people have signed a petition against the plans with residents adding it’s causing “anxiety” in the area.
The plans are all part of a new estate of affordable houses that was initially revealed back in 2019. Now an amended planning application has been submitted to Cardiff council which includes knocking down number 43 on Clos Nant Glaswg as part of the plans to build the affordable houses.

The house would make way for a foot and cycle path linking Ty-Draw Road to the new estate of 45 properties. The amended plans were filed at the start of February.
Since the amended plans were submitted more than 45 formal objections have been sent to Cardiff council and more than 290 people have signed a petition.
One resident, Rob Lee, said the plans are “incredulous” and a waste of a property.
He said: “I just find it incredulous that they want to knock down a perfectly good house to make some access to a new development. It’s just unbelievable.
“It’s just a sleepy little close, but I’ve never seen people in Pontprennau so angry.”
Mr Lee added that residents have no objection to the affordable housing or the residents of the property set to be knocked down. He added that similar properties on the estate are worth around £300,000.
Residents feel that there has been a lack of consultation and the walkway will “reduce our privacy and safety”.
One objection submitted to the council said: “By having an ‘escape’ access through the footpath/cycleway, our properties are at greater risk of being targetted by burglars and property could be damaged, particularly as they are all detached properties so both front and rear accesses are at risk.
“This will devalue our properties, directly impacting us financially as well as causing increases in insurances and other bills.”
They add the plans are “causing additional anxiety to residents”.

Another resident said they moved to the area for the safety and “peaceful tranquil nature of the street”.
In a letter to the council, they said: “We like the safety, the peace and the tranquillity. This letter has already impacted me and my neighbours and not in a good way.
“The whole environment of the street would change and thus it would cause a lot of unwanted stress and needless worry. Isn’t the point of this to benefit all concerned? We currently feel that no one is concerned for our well being.”
A letter dated February 2 to the council said the developers are in contract to purchase the property which will then be demolished.
It adds: “[The property will be demolished] in order to provide space for a new pedestrian and cycle link through to the south which will allow for easier pedestrian and cycle access to the existing facilities and services located in Pontprennau and the surrounding area via the existing estate roads.”
A number of other minor adjustments to the planned estate were also submitted, including increasing the garden size for each plot and reducing the number of properties from 47 to 45.
Cardiff Council’s planning committee will now consider the plans.
A spokeswoman for developer United Welsh said: “This development will provide much needed high-quality homes for affordable rent and first-time buyers. It is important for the proposed new homes to integrate well with the community and for pedestrians and cyclists to have adequate access to local facilities and amenities
“Local residents are being consulted as part of the planning process.”
