Major search underway in Cardiff as emergency services descend on River Taff

Emergency services are searching the River Taff in Cardiff in a major response to an incident.

Firefighters, police and paramedics were called at about 4.30pm on Tuesday to the Whitchurch and Llandaff North areas, with social media reports of a heavy emergency services presence on Ty-Mawr Road and Heol Don. A National Police Air Service helicopter from St Athan has been searching the river in this area. One witness said the riverside path has been closed off in Llandaff North.

“Major police presence in Llandaff North & Whitchurch this evening,” tweeted Cardiff Council’s cabinet member for culture, parks and events Jennifer Burke-Davies at 6.11pm. She added that she was awaiting further details.
