A woman was left injured after being assaulted with a hammer while with her two children in a street.
South Wales Police are appealing for information after a woman was assaulted on Cwrt Sart in Briton Ferry, near Neath, at about 5.45pm on Tuesday evening. The woman was taken to hospital with minor injuries and has since been discharged following the incident.
The woman was with her two children when the attack took place but they were unharmed.
A spokeswoman for South Wales Police said a hammer was recovered from the scene which “is believed to have been used in the assault”.
They said: “We are appealing for information after a woman was assaulted on Cwrt Sart, Briton Ferry at about 5.45pm yesterday.
“The woman received minor injuries and has been discharged from hospital, her two children who were with her at the time of the attack were unharmed. A hammer was recovered from the scene which is believed to have been used in the assault.”
Officers from the force are investigating the incident and are appealing for anyone with information or who saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area to come forward.
